In a conference on US-Israel relations at Bar Ilan University on Monday, US Ambassador to Israel Richard Jones referred to the contentious issue of Jonathan Pollard, the US Naval officer convicted of spying for Israel. Ambassador Jones stressed that Pollard had committed treason, and the US had shown mercy by not executing him.
