First Year Gardening/ First Update Video

Hi all, the reason I posted this is to perhaps give you guys ideas on maybe what works and what doesn't work if you too are thinking about gardening. I am a first year gardener from Michigan, and just thought I would post my first garden update video for perhaps some constructive criticism on vegetables I'm growing this year. I also would like to know how to get rid of BER and ideas for next year. This is recorded on my htc phone camcorder so I do apologize if it's shakes to much. Types of plants I am growing just in-case the video didn't specify; Black Beauty Eggplant, Marketmore Cucumbers, Early Girl, Beefeater, and Cherokee Purple Tomatoes, Kentucky Pole Beans, Cucuzza Squash, Zucchini, Spearmint, Basil, California Wonder Peppers, Buttercrunch Lettuce, and Rosemary.

@cfenster Thanks! I sub'd. As of right now I have grow lights inside and I start them in moist paper towels in a zip lock bag with the grow lights on for 14 hours, then transfer them to pots when the seedlings come up. I like the hoop house idea, perhaps a project for next year! Thanks again for the comment!

I followed the link to your channel from 14dollarz channel. :) Those eggplants look amazing! Sad to hear you are having such a tough time with BER, but the tomatoes are still edible if you let them ripen... just cut off the yucky part, they'll be just fine. Also, that's a great set up for the summertime- I'm jealous!!! and if that is an ashtray, be careful of tobacco mosaic virus!

@bcgarden2010 Thanks, yeah I should just grow eggplant and cucumbers because those seem to be the easiest! I can't believe I'm having that much of an issue with tomatoes...Thanks for the comment on the setup of the house, it took the majority of the spring to get the deck power washed and restained and the pool has been a pain because its been so hot and algae seems to love this weather! Never heard of this tobacco mosaic virus, I'm assuming its about as bad as actually smoking :) I need to quit

Everything looks great. Can't really tell it is your first year growing. Those eggplant are awesome. Mine have like 1 eggplant per plant. I need to water them more I think. My bell peppers don't really get as big as the ones in the stores either so I wouldn't worry about that. For the end rot they make a spray you can buy called blossom end rot spray and that has worked for me in the past. Keep the updates coming!

@14dollarz Thanks a lot for the comment! I will definitely have to look into that spray because it would deeply upset me if all of the tomato plants ended up getting that stupid BER. Any chance you have your 3rd harvest video coming soon? I'm amazed by the amount of produce you get per harvest video! Thanks again!

@MSUCarl483 No problem. I'll have another harvest update out in a week or 2. I shot a couple smaller harvests and will put them all together.
