A radio interview with Joy, Founder of the Tortoise Garden in Sticker, Cornwall. Chatting together about the care of tortoises and the threat the sanctuary is now under because of, yet more 'rules and regulations' by the Devon and Cornwall Council. Since when are Rescue Facilities/Sanctuaries required to HAVE A ZOO LICENCE for domesticated animals !? Please support the Tortoise Garden, visit www.thetortoisegarden.co.uk.
We have lost too many sanctuaries - please, not another one !
Fascinating enclosure ....i have 2 Sulcata and I have never even thought of building an outdoor sunroom type enclosure .........WOW love it I just found how my tax return is getting spent

Joy, you are a vaulable assent to animals. I get sick and tired of so many rules and regulations. We are being strangled by red tape. I can accept that you may be inspected to ensure the animals are well cared for but that is all. If tortoises are considered to be wild animals then why are people allowed to keep them? Best of luck. You are a gem.

Ridiculous, just a way to get money. Because of greed these animals may be in danger. It's a sanctuary not a zoo.

I am in TOTAL agreement with Mary! A Sanctuary is a Safe Place for unwanted Animals, who otherwise would die, in this certain situation. There must be a change in the law, so that places like The Tortoise Garden can flourish, rather than be persecuted!
