the dude has written songs that chirsty moore would kill to have wrote. he has a huge catalogue of amazing songs. its only this generation where everyone is so obsessed with athletes and performers personal lives, instead of just enjoying the art theyve created, which is all that matters. I agree hes not the healthiest of individuals but hey, you dont have thousands of ppl writing notes on youtube telling you what to do differently with your life, do you? so why do it to him?

Anyone can label Shane MacGowan as an alcoholic, my grandma, a retired fascist cop, anyone. Only a few can see the sincere beauty of his music. You are right, Shane is definitely no where near the league of Dylan etc .... he is light years above them. He's the most talented song writer this planet has ever seen and he's such a lovely guy. I love him.
