@jeromeb619 also if you wanna know the diffrence in feel, they are pretty close, both will pass the dollar bill on the dash trick, but i kid you not the 406 will take your breath away mann. you just cant beat a high cubic sbc :) i have a 406 in my 57 chevy belair 2dr hardtop that ways a lil under 3500 pounds... and im runnin 11.00 all day at 122mph at the 1/4 mile. trust me dont let people fool you in believing the 400 has problems!!! they are the best motor you can put in your car.

@jeromeb619 from my experience ive owned both a 383 stroker motor and a 406 small block. basically as far as torque and horse power you cant beat a 406. dont get me wrong a 383 is a great motor and has plenty of torque and hp but you just cant beat the sound and uniquness of a 406. but as far as cooling goes the 406 tends to get a lil warmer than a normal small block would. but trust me when you build one right, the 406 is the motor you want in a street/strip car...
