Planetary Global Warming - Earth Vs. Venus

This is my third video on Global Warming... the emphasis here is on computing the temperature of the inner terrestrial planets based on Solar heating and comparing to the measured temps...the difference in the computed temperature vs the measured fpr Venus, Earth, and Mars is a direct result of the heat holding contribution of "greenhouse" gases. While Earth and Venus are similar in size, composition, and location in the solar system, surface temperatures of the sister planets are vastly different due to a runaway greenhouse effect on Venus caused by very high levels of Carbon Dioxide.

Hmm a black body is supposed to be black aka non reflective. What you did is to consider the inner planets as grey which is not wrong at all simply the column "Black Body Temp. (computed)' is wrong. You would expect a black body temp of Venus much bigger than earths and smaller of Mercury of course!

Point of correction in your statements and conclusion.

The idealized black body temp of Venus is lower than Earth because of Venus high reflectivity.... thus less Sunlight is absorbed by Venus and thus radiated back from the Surface( where the black body assumption is used).

I could have labeled the column better.

Hello Jiggle2Wiggle Thank You .... the more I delve into this subject the messier it is getting from my perspective. There are so many factors at play. So I am here to try to expose those factors and make some scientific sense out of all this hype.

Your whole argument in this video is based on the huge difference in reflectivity between Venus and Earth. You say Venus has a high reflectivity - I disagree, looking with a telescope at Venus shows the yellow/brownish colour of its clouds. Incoming uv-rays from the sun are easily absorbed by the sulphuric acid clouds which and this heat is carried into the atmosphere. Earth has none of this and even if the temp. do go up, it will cause more clouds - thus an even higher reflectivity.

From my readings liquid vapour contributes 95% of all greenhouse, 3% CO2 and the rest methane etc. Dr. John makes no reference to the massive amount of liquid vapour on Venus as a contribotor. Mars has a CO2 level of 95%, 5% nitrogen, Venus has 97% CO2, Earth 0.004%CO2 however Mars almost no liquid vapour and has temps from -50 to -150. Why?

Your right but lack of rotation is the reason for the greenhouse not computation of the thermal affects of the sun. Earth rotates as does Mars with a 24 hour clock Venus and Mercury do not rotate so it would be quite obvious that heat would have difficulty dissipating to a point that it would melt rock and literally convert everything to gas and that gas would then escape into orbit. @ash4432 Also, Mars does have an atmosphere and it is so thin that it gets very cold. The reason it is so cold is due to the lack of sufficient GHG

@ash4432 Yeah but heat never reaches the surface of venus, the atmosphere is to thick, most of it gets deflected back. All the heat in venus is trapped by CO2. This is basic stuff man.
