As you can tell each note is carried for a rather long time. The members of this choir do a magnificant job with their breathing and still mantaining their ability to stay on key hitting each and every note with perfect precision. May God continue to bless this parish and grant you many many more years.
indeed this is one sadest hymns of the Orthodox Church. Yet it is also one of the most beautiful hymns as well. It portrays the bitter sadness experienced by Joseph. a very close friend of Jesus and out of love for his friend and Lord and Master he took it upon himself to approach Pontious Pilate and beg him for the body of Christ, so that he may offer him a proper burial according to the Jewish tradition. This Choir is absolutely beautiful, it's a dificult piece to sing.
Our Choir at St. Gregory's of Nyssa Episcopal Church in San Francisco sang this on Holy Friday at the service as the community passed by the altar on which the icon of Christ being prepared for burial lay. We placed flowers on the icon and kissed it .. and even now as I listen to your choir sing The Noble Joseph and remember that experience, it brings tears to my eyes.
Wonderful to hear it again in Slavonic!
While difficult to sing, it is easier with a full choir, than with just four single voices.
I love this version of Blahoobrazny Josyf.
