Actually, more likely german engineering, Junkers developed 2-stroke diesel engines for aeroplanes and sold "Jumo" 203 and 204 license for Napier and son before ww2. Napier later linked three its Junkers Jumo 203 engines together as "Deltic", which´s sound is heared in this vid.

what a wonderful sound! especially when full throttle... deltics are really amazing machines... someday, im gonna go to gb only to see and hear these monstrous napier engines... 18-cylinder, turbocharged, 2-stroke, triangle machine... 2 pistons in each cylinder. really weird engines. but i can listen to its noise all day :)

I've just recently got into trains, and I must say that so far the Deltics are my favorite.
Just love the look, the smoke, and the sound. They seem like very powerful machines.
