Stock vs. Modified DRZ400SMs

A comparison of 3 DRZ-400SMs, my stock DRZ vs 2 modified ones in an approx 1/4 mile unscientific test on a deserted 2 lane road. Note the first scene is me showing how NOT to launch!! Followed by 1stock vs 2 modded bikes, and the final 5 scenes are $500 dollar mods vs $1000 mods to the bike. You can see the difference between a stock bike and a modded one quite clearly, but the differences between 500 bucks and 1000 bucks are a little harder to see...yellow DRZ -$500 in mods(MRD exhaust, jets, 3x3mod), black DRZ - $1000 in mods(Yoshi exhaust, 3x3mod, FZR pumper carb), you decide........

@zardjali, as mentioned this wasn't a scientific test, we did mark out the 1/4 mile but didnt do a 0-60 test. My bike (the stock one at the time) just catches 60 in 4th, so you can kinda time it from the video

Unless the stock carb was pretty restrictive and metered poorly, a carb swap would make little diff.

I know, I've had the MRD SSW since early last year and love it. Now I just need to get my 434 BB put on.

@alpine56 The MRD is a kick ass pipe! Its half the price of the Yoshi, (in my opinion it also looks better since it doesn't stick out so far!) and it makes about the same amount of power as the yoshi. It also has an awesome warranty/guarantee, (you wreck the bike, they'll fix the pipe!) and its hand made in the US of A! Once I get my 400sm, an MRD pipe will be my first addition!

The yellow DRZ with the $500 mods won everytime but once over the Black $1000 mods. They both left the stocker behind. What if you just did the 3x3 and re-jet, would make a big difference over stock.
