It's not a house. It's... nothing. If I were you, I would be embarassed calling that model 'house'.

Thanks for putting up this vid! I've only been using this SW for a few days and at first glance it's a lil complicated! This was clearly explained and easy enough to follow.
Btw, how would you 'cut out' a door? If I were using something like google sketchup I'd draw a box in the house wall, instersect it then delete it - this would leave the hole in the wall. Any idea how this is done in 3ds?
Thanks again :)

hi recma, being koed due to illness for past few days so haven't got chance to reply till today, with regards your question about one way to create a door in the wall, you can actually use the inset and extrude tools, an example showing how this tool is used is shown at my blog under category of 3D Studio Max Basic Polygonal Modeling, specifically 3D Studio Max Creating a Handphone

thanks for the comments, actually I just wanted to create a simple guide for beginners to 3d max.
can add stuff like proper roof, windows, and door, but I took it out to reduce upload size.
to add the extras, just use polygon edit mode of editable poly, select appropriate polygons, and select extrude option from right-click menu on selected polys.
for using sub object material, search for 3d studio max add texture
