Remember the pre-cable days huddled around the old black and white TV, fidgeting with the antenna to get WSBK TV38 to come in to see the Bruins?

And who can forget doing a jig to the opening tune by the Ventures ("Nutty")!

These clips are a little "grainy" and seen best when viewed in the smaller screen but they are a reminder of the days of watching the Bruins before NESN.

And, of course, the best Bruin of them all (and greatest all around player ever!) wore Number Four - Bobby Orr!!

  • @jojowopper Not so! At this time the training & physical fitness of athletes is in every way SUPERIOR to the time when Orr played. He was as dominant on 'D' as 'O' playing really 2 positions at a time or a shift. If he grew up as a youth with todays coaches, competition, training, etc, he would dominate again! ( Poetic, graceful, and a sledge hammer. )

  • great job wit this, and thank you

  • with his moves he would be competative even today!!! what a great player!!!

  • Bobby Orr was my hero. Still is. I got his autograph when I was 6 years old, and we played a game of "shinny"; him against myself, and 299 other Squirts...he'd let us have the puck now and again, but it was lucidly clear that if he wanted to keep it he could, even with 300 sawn-off hockey sticks chasing him about! Great video...have you noticed how the Canadien and Black Hawk and Rangers, etc, players just stand around, dumbfounded, after he scores? He was AMAZING! Wayne Gretzky...my ASS!

  • Nothing like 7 minutes of watching Bobby makes fools of everyone.

  • He skates around the Montreal Canadiens, a team that could put five Hall of Famers on the ice at any time, like they were pylons. But it's true, the one skill that has improved exponentially across the board since Orr's day is skating. Everyone in the NHL can skate 10 times better these days. Nowhere near the time or space. That's not to say Orr couldn't excel today. The numbers just wouldn't be as dramatic.

  • very poetic very gracefull. chances of him being able to do that in today's game. ZERO.

  • omg every comment is like a paragraph long

    oh and bobby orr rulez

  • You don't get that kind of skating room in today's game. Orr still rocks

  • @jaytf1231 I remember Eddie SHore by name. Never saw him play. Psycho. Top forwards is a tossup though. Bossy not a great corner man...but super instincts, and hands. Neely good on the walls. Might have banged in 70 goals if Ulfie hadn't done the dirty deed. I think Cam had like 49g in 52 or something. McSorley not a top 4 D but hellish good as a mop up on the number 5 or 6 spot. same with Daneyko
