Remember the pre-cable days huddled around the old black and white TV, fidgeting with the antenna to get WSBK TV38 to come in to see the Bruins?

And who can forget doing a jig to the opening tune by the Ventures ("Nutty")! [The Ventures tune was nixed by Youtube. The present audio is "Rush" by M Trax.]

These clips are a little "grainy" and seen best when viewed in the smaller screen but they are a reminder of the days of watching the Bruins before NESN.

And, of course, the best Bruin of them all (and greatest all around player ever!) wore Number Four - Bobby Orr!!

Bobby Orr was the best there was. Would take him over Gretzky or Lemeiux any day

Take the other top ten hockey players of all time and meld them into one player, and Bobby Orr is still better.

Very funny bud. The goalies were definitely not trash; for Christ sakes this is the era Ken Dryden comes from. You could also say that goalies today just put on over sized equipment and play the percentages and that goalies back in this era actually made saves, so just shut your mouth about a sport you clearly know nothing about.

But they were all forwards, how many defensemen will score 44 goals in one season now?

Datsyuks better!! Yzermans better!! Gretzkys better!! Im not saying Orr wasn't an elite player for his time... hockeys just different now, these are the facts people! It takes a lot more skill to compete in the NHL nowadays! Go ask a pro!

imagine Bobby Orr today and he would still dominate in the same way as in his heyday ..because the essence of his genius was 7 speeds of overdrive which allowed him to not even have to bother with a head fake..literally just left all the human pylons behind in his wake..and then be able to utilize his other masterful skills like puckhandling shooting passing.....greatest ever

The two major disappointments in Orr's stellar career were his knees which eventually betrayed him and only two Stanley Cups for Boston. Orr said as much in an interview, bemoaning the fact that the Bruins didn't win more Cups, especially in 1971.
