A screen recording of quake2gwt, running on the dev version of chromium on macbook pro (on the nvidia 9400 card). So far pretty low fps in fullscreen and no sound, but hey it's quake 2 written in javascript!.

In order to get this to work I followed the instructions on the project site (following later). I used the mercurial from the mercurial site since the macports one is broken atm. Also I had to copy the gwtquake.nocache.js from maven-build/server/target/gwtquake/war/gwtquake file to the war/gwtquake folder (after running all the installation steps)

For more information on the project visit the google code site

  • This is awesome

  • Lol, playing a shooter at this framerates :)

  • Interesting that the sound doesn't work since you can see it saying that it's requesting .wav files and creating audio elements for .mp3.

    Also, JavaScript isn't Java, dumbasses.

  • I don't see any models when I run the game D:

  • @imariong981 Check out some of the flashplayer 11 demos, they are currently blowing stuff like this out of the water: watch?v=tgwi0lWgX8w&feature=related

Got quite a few big companies backing them too, like EA and ubisoft... Whether or not they can survive their disatrous decision to stop developing flash plugin for mobile devices or not remains to be seen...

  • @umervideo You know about stage 3d, right? watch?v=tgwi0lWgX8w&feature=related

  • WoW now that's the future!Imagie that...in one year we will be playin' games with similar (if not better) graphics to Battlefield 3 or Crysis 2 or Call of duty on the browser!Cool!! :)

  • @isviabraao

what does java have to do with anything? This is javascript (though it have some flaws)

  • @flamingspew I know that, but you read my affirmation out of context. I'm not talking about javascript. I work with java, and I really know what i'm saying. In fact I love C++ and other languages, like Ruby for example.

  • @xxKiraNLxx I code c#, javascript, php, some c++, occasionally java and shit you don't wanna know about. You can't really say one language will earn you more than another. You either know your shit or you don't.
