M2TW Kingdoms Crusade: 3rd Crusade, Siege of Acre 1191 1/2

NOTICE: WHEN CLICKING TO WATCH PART 2 & 3 DO NOT CONFUSE THEM WITH MY OTHER 'SIEGE OF ACRE' VIDS FROM M2TW, PART 2 & 3 OF THIS BATTLE MUST HAVE THE SAME TITLE AS THIS ON BUT WITH 2/3 & 3/3 AT THE END OF IT.
When King Richard I & King Philip II arrived in the Holyland, they immediatly joined Guy of Lusignan, Garnier de Nablus the Grand Master of the Hospitallers & Robert de Sable the new Grand Master of the Templars while Gerard de Ridefort † the previous Grand Master was killed before the Kings came in the same siege while fighting with saladin's men. They were already besiegeing Acre prior the Kings' arrival but been caught between the city & Saladin & his army aiding the defenders. As they took controll of the siege, King Richard the Lionheart & King Philip Augustus had their men construct siege engines & siege towers. Saladin & his great army were harassing Guy & the Templars before the Kings came but now his attacks are being repulsed by the combined Christian army & soon after, the Acre garrison surrendered to Richard & Saladin retreated with his army. The muslim garrison & the ppl of Acre were captured by the Crusaders & Richard immediatly opened negotiations with Saladin & demanded ransom & prisoner exchange. Although Saladin agreed to pay their ransom, he only sent to Richard the 1st 3 payments but then he stopped, also, Richard had noticed that in the prisoner exchange list some of the names he asked for were missing & that Saladin started playing tough on negotiations unlike he agreed. Suddenly Richard began to think that while Saladin is playing diplomacies he was losing prescious time, since he can't keep the muslims while crusading & to show Saladin that he is not to be fooled, he gave the most cruel order of his life & which was criticised heavily for it by friend & foe alike, he ordered all 2,500 muslims defenders & civilians beheaded. However, Saladin also beheaded Christian prisoners twice not once, the first after the battle of Hattin & the other after Richard beheaded his captives. From there things started to go bad & the alliance between Richard & Philip broke, Philip was ill & returned home & Richard continued his crusade on his own with his 7-13,000 men & moved furthur south to Arsuf by land & sea where Saladin & his 20-23,000 men will be waiting in ambush for him, determined to crush Richard & his men along with the Templars & Hospitallers aiding him, as it turned out, Saladin was wrong. Furthermore, later on, news reached Richard that his own brother Prince John, is plotting to take his throne aided by the King of France Philip II, for King Richard, the situation couldn't be more threatening with his throne at stake while he's fighting in the Holyland.
As most of u know, in M2TW Crusades, King Richard arrives in the Jerusalem faction while King Philip II goes with the Principality of Antioch, so i couldn't have King Philip aswell with Richard & Guy of Lusignan. Here Guy is also besieging Acre but as u can see, Saladin stays in Cairo. Anyway here i,m playing with King Richard the Lionheart in taking Acre while Guy stays put as a reserve army although it wasn't needed but i wanted to include Guy in the siege to make it realistic & not because i like or admire the man, cos he was an incompitent fool.

The funny thing about the seige of Acre was Richard besiged Acre but he himself was besiged by Saladin it was a seige in a seige.

@tuskin4 no, it was Guy of Lusignan & Gerard de Ridefort who were besieging Acre & got surrounded by Saladin & his men. They got stuck in between the city & saladin & Grand Master of the templars Gerard de Ridefort got killed, but when Richard came he took controll of the situation , captured Acre & Saladin retreated.
