Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford testified under oath that he intended to move to the City of Birmingham. Jefferson County Circuit Judge Allwin Horn ruled that Langford's intent was enough to qualify him for Birmingham public office. But has Langford moved, even a year and a half later? Birmingham Weekly made five trips in five weeks to Fairfield to see if Langford was still living there. Can you guess already what we found?
I'm a she, first of all. Second of all, Langford was indicted on a lot more than you stated below and did a tremendous amount of harm for this entire area. His underheaded dealings and poor decisions has affected all of us in the Birmingham area and we're suffering because of it. This has nothing to do with race. Take responsibility for his actions.

They're journalists. This IS their job. You should be thankful that people are paying attention.

Heehee, just cause someone rents a building or owns property somewhere doesn't mean they live there. Everything else with Langford aside, you're comfortable having a mayor for YOUR city that doesn't even live in YOUR city? Not only does that not show a vote of confidence or care about the city, but it's really blantant disrepect. A lot of place require that police officers reside in the city they work for. I completely agree with this.

Just because he owns, ::cough cough:: owned* a property in B'Ham, doesn't mean that he resides there. Just because I own a home in Cullman, doesn't mean i'm a resident of Cullman.

I know what the law says and this is a dead issue because I don't have time to keep going back and forth with you.

You can say so all you want, but until you read the law you have no idea what you're talking about.

It's ignorant to label Alabama as racist. Yes there are a lot of white people in Alabama that are racist, but there are also a lot of black people in Alabama who are racist. It's a two way street.

@sbriggins
I did read awayfromyou's comment. Read my reply to his comment. By law it's legal because he had a residence in his name in B'ham. The point I was making with Scrushy is the unfairness of Langford's indictment compared to Scrushy's. I was addressing two issues....Larry's residence and his bogus indictment. I am not justifying his actions because what he did was wrong but the indictment was bogus. And I still say by him residing in B'ham and Fairfield it was legit.

Read awayfromyou's comment from a week ago. By law, you are wrong. And what does Scruchy have anything to do with Langford??

@DaUndergroundAttic
I agree...his conviction was bogus. I mean look at Richard Scrushy's case...hell they're treating Larry Langford like he is Jeffrey Dahmer. Dahmer killed 17 boys over a 13yr period and was sentenced to serve 936yrs! Langford accepted $236,000 in cash and gifts and is sentenced to 804yrs! Go figure.... Alabama is racist as hell!
