The film -- made over the course of three years and two continents -- scrutinizes the scientific research surrounding the diagnosis of Munchausen's and, in doing so, questions the very diagnosis itself. Whatever you want to call it, MSBP, or something else, the fact remains that there are disturbed individuals who will abuse their children to get medical attention. There are also mothers who don't intentionally hurt their children but obsess about their supposed illnesses to the extent that it threatens the child's psychological development. I personally know someone like this. She denies her son a normal childhood because of his supposed "special needs," and he's a perfectly normal little boy.

im a munchausen by proxy child and that is the ticket . right there denial even if the child is healthy. my whole family is morbid fixation and even when i recovered wanted me to be sick and still do and did thigs recently after35 year to try to make me sick again. i was moving to get them tossed in jail. so it was even more a intent to do so.. they also owe me money for everyday i suffered and the condtions after.. my mother is the weak spine and all feed off her tainted life.

So sad. MSBP may indeed exist but I am convinced it is overdiagnosed. I have read Patrick's story elsewhere and it is truly horrifying; this poor baby died alone after CPS refused to allow his parents custody, claiming his mother had MSBP on nothing more than the doctor's opinion, because she was questioning his decisions. Autopsies confirmed the baby died of infection. All you so quick to jump on the child abuse accusation: may your child never have a mysterious prolonged illness.

when you're a kid thinks all the mothers of the world are like yours ... and all of them want the good of their children. shel suffocates you in bed, you find it strange ... does not seem natural but she doesmake that seem caring and love. Everyone thinks she is careful with their children ... you know that but nobody believes you.

MSBP has been discredited by the House of Lords.

So it's not murder.

It's an "invented" illness, by a doctor, that was struck off as a doctor for "inventing" MSBP.

When challenged by barristers to produce his evidence and research, he said "he'd destroyed it".
