There's a cheaper one made by Ashbury and sold by Hobgoblin (and probably others). I haven't played it, and their stuff is by no means uniformly great, but it's worth a try at about £150. This one is about £700, for comparison.

yup. just four strings. there's a couple of online stores that sell vintage ones and you can buy custom built ones - both options are REALLY pricey. As far as i know your best bet for finding a regular one (i know gibson and epiphone make them) is using ebay.

Thanks! Sadly not my tenor though; I review guitars for Acoustic magazine here in the UK (that was what got me into ukulele, actually), and I had that on review. I liked it a lot!
