Jeffrey Lang shares his experiences as a young man struggling to find meaning in a world full of turmoil. He recounts his time growing up in San Francisco when his discovery of the Holy Qur'an compelled him to reconsider his scepticism of religion. He explains how within the Qur'an he found the practical answers to his most pressing philosophical questions of why evil exists, who is God and the purpose of life. Follow his heartfelt, rational exploration of the Qur'an as he "connects the dots" to figure out what God truly wants from the human being. Dr. Lang, a professor of mathematics at the University of Kansas, also discusses the human as an intellectual and moral being, the fall of the first human to Earth, the essential elements of faith, how to get closer to God, and how the Qur'an emphasizes reason in the spiritual quest. An engaging lecture providing insight into the thought process of one finding himself on a spiritual quest from atheism to Islam.

Jeffrey Lang is an American convert to Islam and author of the best selling works "Struggling to Surrender: Some Impressions of an American Convert to Islam", "Even Angels Ask: A Journey to Islam in America" and "Losing My Religion: A Call For Help". He also co-founded Generation Islam, a networking group serving the needs of North American born Muslims.

  • OH MY GOD THIS IS MY MATH PROFESSOR

  • @rcyzman10 : ) cool

i think his other videos can be found on the Deenshow(dot)com

    and the youtube channel "IslamOnDemand"

  • Genesis says this about the tree: "The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” Genesis 2:15-17 It was not the "tree of life" as he states.

  • @rosemarykelley100 I have to watch it again, but the story of Genesis is that God forbade Adam to eat from the tree of "good and evil", but satan tempted them to eat from it so they shall die and be banished from heaven, then God banishes them from heaven in order that they do not eat from the tree of life, i.e. to be immortal ~ Genesis 3:22

which part of the video are you referring to by the way?

  • If eve was smart she would have led adam on his own to earth while she got eternel life by herself...apparently she's not the smart one, .just a thought

  • Thanks for this inspiring lecture, Jeff.

May Allah bless you and I pray for your mom forgiveness as well, amin ya robbal 'alamin.

  • @rosemarykelley100 My dear sis, no offence but you have the concept of Mercy all wrong? that verse doesn't mention the word mercy nor does it represent Mercy,

Mercy would be if you said "And God said I forgive you, be free of Sin",

but what you stated is that God killed or allowed Jesus i.e. an innocent person to die in order to forgive sinners, that's like setting a rapists /murderer free and sentencing someone else in his/her place.

  • @LetsLearnArabic But God was not angry, He was merciful: "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."Romans 5:8

  • @rosemarykelley100 And the Lord God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." (Genesis 3:22)
