On March, 15th 1986 a charity show called "Heartbeat" was organized by Bev Bevan to raise money especially for the Children's Hospital in Birmingham. This sold-out show was to become one of the most successful and spectacular events in British rock music history, featuring big names such as The Moody Blues, Robert Plant, UB40, the Roy Wood Band and, of course, the Electric Light Orchestra. I created a stereo remaster of the original mono audio from my VHS recording of this concert. Hope you enjoy this version!

Performed By: Jeff Lynne (vocals, guitar), Bev Bevan (drums), Richard Tandy (keyboards), Mik Kaminski (violin), Louis Clark (orchestral keyboards), Dave Morgan (guitar, keyboards,backing vocals), Martin Smith (bass, backing vocals)

Complete Listing of all the songs performed at concert:

Twilight
Evil Woman
Livin' Thing
* Telephone Line
Ma-Ma-Ma Belle
* Do Ya
* Rockaria!
Sweet Talkin Woman
Confusion
Turn To Stone
Rock 'N' Roll Is King
Calling America
Mr. Blue Sky
* Hold On Tight
* Don't Bring Me Down
Roll Over Beethoven
* indicates songs that appeared in TV special.

  • The only ELO concert I actually got to see. Was working in the morning and left my ticket at work. One mad dash later I got to the NEC at about 1pm. I had to sit through garbage like UB40 before Roy Wood (who was also great) and then ELO hit the stage. I honestly don't recall them doing Twilight. Didn't stay for Moody Boring Blues, therefore missed the big jam afterwards.

  • My information as far songs performed at concert comes from the Jeff Lynne Song Database and elodiscovery websites. Of course I don't have first hand knowledge. There is a bootleg of the complete concert floating out there. Hopefully I be able to get my hands on it for first hand verification otherwise I can only depend on these two sources for my information on this concert. It has been 23 years since that concert so who knows what is true?

  • Excellent all your remaster series !!!!
