I think 3bucko is absolutely right - also, maps with many cliffs favor terran because they can drop tanks on top, and very large maps favor terran and protoss and their macro while very small maps make zerg cheese extra deadly.

Not quite sure but this is from my experience
Big open areas favor zerg since they can so a surround with their heavy macro.
Large ramps over bases favor mostly terran I think since their siege tanks are so good at shelling bases.
Small closed ramps favor protoss since one dragoon or zealot can seal that gap for a while.
