  • I also like Aleka's comment at the end about women who think it's ok to hit men. Obviously it's not ok to put your hands on anyone.

  • @Chirimoya08 Got inot a full blown argument with a homegirl about that. She is asking for trouble. -Aleke

  • I appreciate this topic, all your topics! But yea, it has to do with psychology. I, personally, believe that it is a type of person (male, female, black, white...) that is susceptible to domestic violence. People who think they are worthless, have no self-esteem, etc. and like Ann says it's manipulation. It can be a powerful thing.

  • @Chirimoya08 It is crazy to think that could happen, but I have been in situations where I felt controlled. -Aleke

  • @Chirimoya08 I've been in a situation were I believe it was heading down this road and It's not easy. My heart really goes out to anyone that does not have the strength/resources to leave. - Ann

  • I think there are some good points in this video, but I'm not too fond of the suggestion that if someone is cheating and if it is in the heat of the moment then it becomes understandable to an extent. Infidelity excuses ending a relationship - never abuse. Most of the time, it is the effect of misogyny that makes violence against men look like a joke - women are perceived to be so delicate and affable and it's presumed that they could never inflict genuine damage. Otherwise, cool video.

  • Despite the fact that domestic violence occurs at nearly the same percentages against men, as it does women, there is no funding, no facilities and no contribution at any level to help men deal with this growing epidemic, There is a single Domestic Violence shelter in Lancaster, CA that serves men also. It is staffed entirely by volunteers and run off donations, but their waiting list is nearly a year. This single shelter that also accepts some men has been extensively harassed for doing so.

  • There are no recourse for abused men, they cannot go to a woman's shelter.

  • Just so you know, there are no DV services for men, period. In the U.S. in 2012 the 21st century, there are 1,682 to 1800+ abuse shelters for women, 5,000+ abuse shelters for animals, and "0" abuse shelters for men. (N.D.V. Hotline, N.C.A.D.V., and A.S.P.C.A.).

  • I am a victim, and I know hundreds of men, that even in men's groups, are reluctant to come forward that they were abused.

  • This is definitely a good video. People that sucuum to DV are mentally abused.. it is a cycle, they most likely grew up in a home where DV took place and they become damaged so as adults the cycle continues.. they snap and become a product of their enviornment. They people need therapy. My best friend was a victim of DV and she was one of the lucky ones to survive because she had a great support system. We must know the signs because they are always there. We have to raise awareness
