Welcome to the first episode of 0506HK, Return to Hong Kong. In this episode, Quentin returns to Hong Kong where he is immediately thrust into protests against the World Trade Organization and a surreal photo shoot with his friend, the iconic cultural pioneer Kam Kwok Leung.

0506HK is Quentin Lee's first documentary feature where the filmmaker documents his personal journeys between 2005 and 2006 to Hong Kong, the city where he was born and raised. Interviewing fellow filmmakers, artists, friends and family, Lee humorously and poignantly captures the vanishing identity of his generation of Hong Kong people who were born in a British colony which has ceased to exist since 1997.

Quentin, I feel for you, and for the questions you asked yourself. I left in 1976 (three days shy of my fourth birthday), and made my first return in November 2006. I totally "get" this feeling of an emotional connection. It's still there, though I prefer living in New Zealand.
