If record shops had been more like this, maybe they'd have never almost all closed. We are very short of small live music venues too. What a lot of musical talent there is in Dublin - all these bands sound fantastic.
Without having to spend 2.50 or 3.00 for a coffeeor to sit down.. a seat would be provided to rest your back and enable you to test before you buy
Maybe I havnt looked in every corner of the city of Dublin, or maybe I got tired of lookin, sound cellar has no seats, u enter, u chat for a few minutes, you buy a cd or ticket and leave!!
I want more from record shops but it looks like I wont get that SHED appeal this side of 2010 or 2020!!!
This has been a rant by Trev, Sorry for its whingeyness, sorry for its lack of point!!
I miss new yorks Bleecker bobs, the banter with the staff of cbgbs, our venues have lost this banter due TO BUSINESS as usual!! This turns me off!!
Again sorry but in that mood of regrets for how the record/cd industry has gone down!!
I shall try ever so hard to set up a store myself into the future that will act as a refuge for chats and beers about music, debate, passion and intensity can flow..
Now theres tons of bands in ireland with oodles of talent and everyone has them on ipod!!
they listen to music but forget that anticipation of opening a cd or vinyl package and gazing dribbling at the artwork, the lyrics emblazoned with sketches from tour bus drinkin sessions jumps off the pages!!
Thats Music collecting!! A record shop should compliment this experience!!interactive or colourful staff are the face of the music!! Its why i never got a job in HMv or virgin they want slaves/robots
An i prob wont unless I gop travelling, but shops must offer fans an option to road test an album before they buy it!!
I dont want to hear the top charts aalbums that are only displayed in more main stream high street shops, i wanna be turned on by Zappa, enlightened by Morrissey, brought to tears by Buckley and emotionally smashed by Nick Drake!!
I whinge yes because the coffin of record shops is almost closed, they were too slow to react to slow to get events like this going!!
Shops are whinging about dwindling sales yet havnt gotten of their arses till now!!
If you have High Fidelity style shops, I WOULD GO!! Where you can chat with the staff rather than asking directly for a specific album its cool to be persuaded to check out a new band or a n old undiscovered band like BRANDO, STOAT, GRAND POCKET ORCHESTRA!!
New york has interactive or cult shops where the attachment is still there to music!! i havnt bought an ipod..
