Tune by Gordon Giltrap, which I picked up at a workshop many, many years ago in Huntingdon Hall...

I've heard Doyle Dykes use this a few times aswell, so it's not anything new but as a fun trick it's good to learn...

VERY quiet - listen closely.. Played on a Fylde Alchemist, recorded on a camera phone (I know.. go figure...)

Technique-wise, it's a bit like swimming. Feels un-natural but you get used to it. Your left hand plays a standard chord shape, then the right hand alternates between picking a string with the third finger ('a' for all you classical bods), and playing a natural harmonic 12 frets above where the chord is using your thumb and index finger ('p' and 'i').

funfunfun.

  • Very beautiful, it is so soft, so delicate. I like that.

  • Whoa, pretty cool! You know, I've used that stuff for a lick here or there but never made a whole tune using it. Thanks for the inspiration! And good picking! :)
