In early August 2010, a baby squirrel fell or was pushed out of its nest and ended up in our backyard. After five hours mom did not retrieve it and so my wife and I nursed the then 3.5 to 4 week old baby back to health. In this video, Gollum (so named because as a baby she looked like Gollum) is back outside for the first time.
@3rdDegreeKickAss. As she got older we let her go outside. At first she wouldn't go further than the nearest tree to the house. Then further away. Eventually she was out for the day and returned at nightfall. Then she was out overnight on a regular basis. We started seeing her with a grey boy squirrel in the neighbourhood. Then one day she did not return. I think that she and the boy squirrel have moved to another neighbourhood. I miss her, but it was always my goal to return her to the 'wild'.
