I took out the snippets of this great song(On The Radio) as it filters through this 1980 movie(FOXES). It really set the tone for the movie, and made it endearing and nestalgic.Notice the different orchestration on the uptempo version.

  • great song.. and great movie, it's been 10 years since i watch it for the first time... no other song was more right and the first piano's notes when the movie starts are the sweetest thing I've never heard

  • I love those opening chords too! If i play and rewind those bars more than 4 times i'll want to cry.....~

  • I loved this movie and the slow version of "On The Radio." It worked beautifully and the end was just gut-wrenching as the song just washed over everything! Nice editing, Summerholliday44.

Does anyone know if the actual soundtrack of "Foxes" contained different versions of "On The Radio" or was it like the version on Summer's On The Radio Grtst Hits LP?

  • .......no, there is no existing recording of the "movie version" of on the radio...except the movie.

  • No. You're wrong. The Foxes soundtrack was issued by Casblanca records with these tracks: Donna Summer: "On the Radio" (Extended soundtrack mix) Janis Ian: "Fly Too High" Brooklyn Dreams: "Shake It" Cher: "Bad Love" Giorgio Moroder: "Valley Of the Dolls Angel: "20th Century Foxes" Keith Forsey: "Greedy Man" Angel: "Virginia" Giorgio Moroder: "On the Radio" (Instrumental) Giorgio Moroder: "Hollywood Dreams" Giorgio Moroder: "Fly Too High" Giorgio Moroder: "Valley Of the Dolls"
  • not THE MOVIE version(which is a different recording...and different vocals, and a little different lyrics than the released version)

  • Donna Summer should have recorded a ballad version of this it is actually a much prettier song when done as a slow version.

  • how come the version with these vocals has never been released

  • @seanr456 I never saw it that way. I always saw it as a beautiful statement on the continutation of life after death. It's one of my favorite movie quotes ever.

  • Such a cheery, uplifting song. Too bad the movie ends with a philosophical musing on the virtues of cannibalism.

  • Can you please upload the whole movie? I'm dying to see it & can't find it anywhere. That would be truly awesome. <3

  • The seventies made such realistic movies, especially teenage dramas like Foxes. On The Radio blends in very well with the storyline too.

  • Does Anyone Here Know What Jeanie's (Jodie Foster) And Brad's (Scott Baio) Last Names Were In The Movie ? Need This For A Retrospective Article I'm Writing ! Thanks !

  • This was thee cool teenie boppers rebellious movie of the time. I saw it at the theater with friends. I taped the newspaper movie ad to my bedroom wall. I drove my Mom up the wall watching this movie on HBO dozens of times.

  • this song and movie describes the way i feel inside in such a nostalgic way.

  • Man, this movie captures the feeling of the times, back then.

The vibe it gives off, is just priceless.

Miss those days. Oh how simple, it all seems now. (:
