@MaineHighrailer Maybe so, but it always seems like when guys are videotaping, I'm around.....lol I can see your side of it, but you have to admit, if you came in to work and always had people watching and video-taping you, it would creep you out??? But if you must do it, PLEASE be safe about it, there are so many dangers around tracks, and trains. We really do care very deeply about everyone's safety, which is why most all of the property is posted.

@Crossingman18 WoW! I also got 208 with 509!!!

I cant believe 509 is in the deadline. It was just 4 years ago I managed to get a video of that unit!

this is great. back in 99 or 2000 i did this. there was the 453 and 455 behind the shop, a couple of GP38's in back STILL in maine central paint and the transfer table had a cab of an alco S unit on it. the GP38's were between the shop buildings and the river. cool stuff even last year though

The litte scale test cars are tiny and cute.

Never mind. I had a brain fart. I was meant the E, & F Units, not the GeeP's. Sorry for the confusion.
What is the attraction of people like yourself driving through the yard? I can't tell you how many people trespass on our yard / tracks to get video of us working. I have to say it is quite irritating!!!!

@Thesupersmith79 I am sorry I have inconvenienced you. However, while we are on site, we are an e extra set of eyes to deter theft and vandalism. Trains are my hobby, and my customers expect me to know what is going on locally. I respect private property, and make sure to leave things just as I have found them. I am not there to turn any one in, cause harm, or damage. I also realize I am liable for my own actions while there. We can be your best friends and allies if you let us.

@Thesupersmith79 We report derailments (To your office, not the press), broken rails, hot boxes (in the day), dragging breaks, washouts... The list goes on. We save your company money as railfans. And possibly save lives in the process. Yes, there are some that get in the way. But the serious railfans know the rule books just as employees do. We call it "constructive trespassing". We take pictures for our own personal records or modeling purposes. Please ask if you have any questions...

Yeah, I know what you're saying, but some MEC/B&M passenger capable Geeps had the steam generators located on the top of the long hood too (that big box on top) between the dynamic brake, & the rear air filters as a reference point. But who cares about all that, this video is awesome either way!

I think your talking about the winterization hatch. That covered the forward radiator fan to make the engine run warmer in the winter. And below that in the hood is the coolant tanks in a rack between the engine block and air pump.

That's just venting from the steam generator sitting up on top of that Geep. Not a leak I don't think. Good to see those 2 'ol gals still running!

The steam generator would have been at the other end in the short hood on most units. F, E, and SDP40's had them in the rear along with some other odd engines. All the GP 7's, 9, and RS units had them in the front/short hood. And to date, I am not sure if any engines have them still installed except for the 573 now owned by the Conway Scenic RR in North Conway, NH. It is common for Guilford to tell the crew "Just add water before your shift.".
