Leland Hardy, Founder and Original Registrant of www.NEWYORK.com joins a plethora of volunteers and others in this extraordinary video celebrating the inaugural NEWYORK.COM "Tribute to the Troops!" event honoring our military personnel, their families, our veterans, and our fallen heroes. A host of celebrities, politicians, and media personalities contributed to the full day of festivities, including WNBC TV4 news anchors/event MCs, Pat Battle and David Ushery, Tenor, Anthony Peacock, a Gospel mass choir, Chairman of the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee, Congressman Charlie Rangel, and others. After a full afternoon of family entertainment events in the heart of Times Square on Military Island in front of the U.S. Armed Forces Recruiting Center, the day was capped off with a star-studded benefit evening concert at Times Square's Nokia Theater featuring Irish vocal sensation, Laura Izibor, Babyface's younger brother, Kevon Edmonds, and his outstanding After 7 group, NEWYORK.COM 'City of fame' contest winner, Big Shai, and headliner, Presidential Medal of Freedom honoree, 21-time Grammy Winner and, as declared by an international poll conducted by Rolling Stone Magazine, the "greatest singer of the Rock and Roll era," the Queen of Soul herself, Aretha Franklin. The concert benefited the Souldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, and Coast Guard (SSMAC) Foundation.
