The President has signed into law the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009, which permanently protects more than 2 million acres of America's wilderness in California, Colorado, Idaho, Michigan, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The omnibus lands act provides the greatest expansion of Wilderness in 15 years.
The bill also makes permanent the National Landscape Conservation System, comprised of 26 million acres of the best lands and waters administered by the Bureau of Land Management, and provides additional protections to more than 1.2 million acres of wild landscapes in the Wyoming Range of western Wyoming's Bridger-Teton National Forest.

this is public land! it will not be enjoyed by the public if it's closed off. i'm all for responsible use but calling everything "wilderness" is bad for the country. it will kill the local economies that depend on tourism. did you think of the fact that people cut dead trees for fire wood and that in turn supresses fires. think 1988 yellowstone fire. too much fuel and the fire went crazy. it took the largest fire fighting effort in american history to keep it from destroying the park.

Thank you Paul. Let's hope Pennsylvania's Allegheny National Forest is next!
