Red Door developed a QR code, mobile scavenger hunt in Austin, TX during SXSW for client ESET, a global antivirus software company. Red Door utilized the emerging mobile technology of QR (Quick Response) codes to hide clues leading participants down a path of unique ESET experiences. For those without smartphones capable of reading the QR codes, Red Door created an SMS version of the hunt, where clues were unlocked by texting specific keywords to a shortcode.

At the end of the hunt, contestants received a boxed version of ESET's award winning software, and entered to win a Sony VAIO laptop by texting their email address to a shortcode.

The results were awesome! Over 120 people completed the hunt, and at the first clue (the ESET photo booth) a line formed at the start of the hunt that lasted for hours. The scavenger hunt engaged passers by and made them think about the ESET brand.
