My bike ride around North East England. I cycled 74 miles from Durham, to the coast and up to Sunderland, to South Shields, through the Pedestrian/Cycle tunnel under the River Tyne, to Newcastle, Blaydon, Consett, Lanchester and back to Durham.

It was raining for half of it, so I didn't get as many scenic shots as I would have liked. If I get chance to do the bike ride again and get some better shots then I'll repost the video.

I only actually crossed 2 of the 3 big rivers (twice), the River Wear and the River Tyne. The third big river on the map, the River Tees, is much further south. So I actually did the 'Two Rivers' bike ride, but used the Three Rivers Cycle Route map!

I set off at 12.30pm, stopping quite a few times to sight-see, chat to people, plus eat and drink. I also stopped to mend a puncture. I arrived home at 9.30pm. The hardest bit was cycling from Blaydon (on the River Tyne) up to Consette. I don't hang around, but it is steady up hill for about 20 miles, so I found that tough to keep up a decent pace. The easiest bit was the last leg, coming home from Consett to Durham, mostly down hill!

Check out my website and blog to find out more about how my health recovered after I changed my diet. I went from having chronic fatigue to having lots of energy!

  • Looked like a enjoyable Journey. :-)

I really enjoy rides like this. I've just arrived back from one today. 57 miles. The views are fabulous, if you ever come to the UK, then I recommend visiting, County Durham, The Lake District, Northumberland, and most of Scotland. North Wales is fabulous too.

  • Great Job Stuart! But I have to say that while you were in the tunnel, I felt a little claustrophobic! I would love to travel, and I feel I just did! Keep more videos coming, my daughter LOVES the "Beatles" ok she is crazy about the Beatles, are you close Abby Road? Blessings!

  • @MrsLeafygreens

Thanks! The Beatles' Abbey Road is over the other side of the country in Liverpool. I'm on the North East side, in Durham near Newcastle.

  • Thanks for the video; what an amazing tunnel, although I kept watching for a crack in the wall.
