@1PARADOXXX With Variable timing on the exhaust side, the engine can allow overlap and some of the exhaust is drawn back into the cylinder to be burnt in the next powerstroke, thus achieving the same effect as an EGR valve without the extra tubing and weight.. Less weight helps the fuel economy. ;)
@Azn69Knight you guys make me laugh. Most of the cars you mentioned have this tech in there engines anyway so there all the same. BMW, Honda, Mitsubishi, Ford AND Toyota all have comp' controlled variable timing on there engines, its nothing new anymore. It does increase power AND economy, thats what its supposed to do, thats why everyone uses it
So then doesn't it make back pressure almost essential? to prevent exhaust gasses from going back into the intake and prevent the new charge of air just go right out the tail pipe? J.W.
@Rico8458 superior engine for for fuel economy and thats it..... try saying that after you get smoked by lancers gtrs bmws, mustangs or even civics, if you mod your shit, they can mod their shit too either way, stock or tuned your still not gonna be as fast
@deadman2141
Like any engine, the cam blocks off the intake valve when the chamber is combusting.

vtec engagement is different from vvt. that has to do with cam lifting.
