@caithyp If you have diabetes, this can be proven by elevated gluclose levels, high blood pressure is also verified by confirmatory tests, if you have cancer, you have evidence of cancer cells. With psychiatric diagnoses, you've got a psychiatrists opinion about your behavior and zero physical tests to prove it. So the real question is; would you get Chemotherapy WITHOUT evidence of cancer cells? Would you just trust the doctor to "know" that you had cancer without any confirmatory test?

@crazyelephantofdoom Crazy Elephant -- try telling that to the mothers of children who've died from psychiatric drugs. Tell them to get some "perspective." Seriously, you need to learn how to differentiate between accidents and children being prescribed potentially lethal drugs by doctors. No doctor is drowning or burning kids, or pushing them into head on traffic. But they are prescribing drugs documented by the FDA to be fatal. So get your perspective in. Seriously....

@Sinobabaz7 what type of action> there is no evidence that antidepressants cause damage in a cognitive sense do they? your talking more about them causing parkinsons and tardive dyskenesia correct?

I agree that medicine is not very neccesary to treat mental disorders and therapy is better, but i don't see why you have to say that mental disorders are bogus cos science has proven that they are real. so take that!
-
@TheRunkbullen exactly, and what better way than to practice the medicine yourself first and release your conclusion afterwards. i would agree that kids are overlooked with this and other conditions but they are all very real. live it.

@intrusosgang - GOOD FOR YOU! It is illegal for teachers to be making recommendations such as that - practicing medicine without a license. You can go after them for sanctions...

@CCHRInt - exactly. This is a CNS stimulant that can cause cardiac arrest in extreme cases, especially with adolescents. With the brain still growing and maturing, these meds are simply too risky to be trying on adolescents.

I'm a mother of three teenagers with Aspberger's Disorder - two were misclassified as ADHD; one of those two attempted suicide numerous times between the ages of 8 and 10 years of age. I am also a drug abuse counselor where I had 25 hours of pharmacology. Ritalin, metadate, concerta have the same medication in them so they are just reformulations. ADHD is used too often for "something wrong," when other options should be considered such as autism or even Tourette's syndrome.

@TheRunkbullen Mental Disease? What does that mean? No biopsy, hair test, urine test, blood test is done to make this "diagnosis" of mental disorder, disease, condition, illness, abnormality is done. If there IS a Medical disease then a Psych Diagnosis is ruled out, even retroactively (called a "mimic," a Physical Diagnosis invalidates a previous Psychiatric Diagnosis.) Stimulant Treatment -1930s

@MrShayneOneill please... you probably think the international drug regulatory agency warnings cited in the video also came from "scientology'.... right?

Okay, I wasn't going to comment about this, but this video made me do it.
I have worked with chidren that have the "bogus" mental disease ADHD and similar diseases and they took Ritalin and got better, so don't say that it isn't helping. Yeah sure it sounds a bit wrong that it is so easy to get the diagnosis, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist, so instead of just spread fear for the drugs and say "if you take this you will DIE!", maybe try to change the psychiatry-system?

@TheRunkbullen Get the facts. The US DEA classifies Ritalin in the same category of highly addictive drugs as cocaine, morphine & opium. That's the DEA, not us. The US FDA warns Ritalin can and does cause heart attack, stroke, hallucinations, sudden death. Moreover, ADHD is simply a checklist of behaviors. Kid behaviors. There's no medical test for "ADHD" So do kid behaviors exist? Yeah. Is it a disease requiring cocaine like drugs with lethal side effects? Nope.
