The last time I saw these elevators, they were still manually operated, but they have since been modernized. I believe by Elcor or some other brand. Anyone know? There also used to be two elevator cars, but during the modernization, one was taken out completely. The other elevator car is still pretty much the original elevator car body at least. A bit dark in this video however. You can still see where the second elevator used to be and the old historic call button fixtures are still in place as well. On the upper levels, you can still see the doors for the old elevator as well, but not on the main level. However, the original floor indicators on the main level are still seen.

  • Looks like it was modernized by Northern

  • Cool! Are you gonna go see that one?

  • I may, where is that building exactly?

  • On Granville St. on same side as Eatons, but south of Robson St.

  • Dude, you need to say 'excuse me' - haha. That is a beautiful elevator. Though it's been modernized, I'm glad they kept he original car. It's kind of weird how they just covered over the other elevator in the lobby but yet on the other floors they left it alone. That would have been a treat to see that one in action in it's original form. Dream on....

  • Meh! He backed back out before I had a chance to and asked me "How are ya?". I was a bit caught off gaurd by him too as he wasn't really in view as the door opened. LOL!

  • This might have been modded by Northern, they often use that fixture style, which was originally designed by Epco.

  • Overdone with the modernization. Kind of wrecked it a bit. :(

  • It was modernized by Niagara which is a Canadian company. ThyssenKrupp is the same company as Northern and Niagara.
