Team # 4 will present a Varna. "Varna" means `color' which brings out the complexity of different aspects of a song that depicts the raga exploration, to a beat cycle. The multiple rhythmic speeds and the variation of notes, in other words gamakas or microtones, make it challenging and exciting for the performers to present. Learning Varna in the right format makes the musician proficient in all aspects described above and completes a major milestone in Carnatic Classical music. This Varna, "Evvari bodhana" is a composition of Patnam Subramania Iyer, set to raga Abhogi and tala Adi.
