I have been drinking for about 10 years heavy amounts and now been sober for a month or so and my blood sugar is from 5.6 to 6.5 Im eating healthy now, trying to avoid basically anything white. I also eat only chicken and fish in meat, sometimes turkey. I just want to get healthy, feeling this way from the alcohol withdrawal sucks balls big time.

Hi bobo...
In addition: Make sure your other labs like homocysteine, ferritin, iron, VAP Cholesterol profile, Cardiac CRP, A1c, 25 (OH) D, MAU etc... are monitored and kept in the best possible ranges.

Amongst my fellow diabetic peers. Good luck constantly having the numbers in the caption all the time lol
Those values are easier said than done especially for Type 1's.
Type 1 for 8 years, pumping for 5.

Yes, you are right. It is clearly easier said than done. It is important, however, to know up-front what the healthy ranges are and what the ideal values would be for the type 2 or even type 1 diabetic. Fortunately, blood sugar values are not the only was to address risk effectively. Overall risk management is critical. Success to you as you seek out the best strategies to meet your goals. See additional comment on other labs. Thanks for your input. - Wes Youngberg, DrPH, CNS
