This is a vintage commercial from the 1960s for the famous car from the former East Germany, the Trabant. The commercial is for the Trabant 601. Wendig! Schnell!

To be fair, it probably performed as well as anything British Leyland were "producing" in the 70s. In those days they'd struggle to make toast, let alone a car...

I wish you could show it side by side with an ad for a volkswagen from west germany... I mean I know they're hilariously crap cars but it was the 1960s... weren't all cars hilariously crap?

During 1989 to 1991, the last of the Trabant 601's had the 1.1L 4-stroke engine from the VW Polo put into them. They are few and far between these days.
