A crank honored by 3 presidents who started up 9 companies from scratch that now are industry leaders...a multi-millionaire who's developements have led to the blind seeing and the deaf hearing... Forbes most thinking man...He may be wrong but he has a lot of credibility..I would not dismiss him as a kook so easily!

geez, it looks almost as if RK is becoming younger by the year. His predictions will come to pass sooner (if people are open minded) or later (you cannot stop the inevitable) - AND yes, we may very well have to face people or organizations that will try to destroy people with easy access to tech.

it is typical but is it not wonderful? If we are to live forever, we have to embrace such ideas correct? A life with quick access to information, a body that will not fall to the ravages of time - it's globalization and I can't wait. On a side note, this whole movement feels oddly evangelical.

Gotta love the typical transhumanist conflation of technology-that-is-minimally-r
equired-to-keep-a-person-livin g-and-healthy-by-normal-standa rds with "hybrids are already here!" I have a suggestion for Kurzweil, he should re-name this lecture "Final Solution for the Human Question". -
it is weird...he looks younger..
maybe its just more makeup

Soooooo, what have you done with yourself to give you such wisdom and a right to judgement over a man as successful and respected as he?
Kurzweil is a visionary.

Thanks for embedding! :) Your site is well done, and collects interesting stuff. I wonder if you would get more comments and more community by actually not requiring viewers to register.

I'm not convinced that G.N.R. + capitalism is a good idea. Kurzweil considers himself a technological optimist, and he seems to downplay the inherent risks. I would like to see a security plan (the u.n. perhaps?) inplace before the technology becomes uncontrollable.

Together with Bill Joy in the New York Times actually Kurzweil did propose the development of a rapid response system to be able and counter the dangers of GNR. But the security measures have use the same technologies, so can't be grown out of relinquishment.
