MR2 Spyder vs LMP2 race car

Ever thought how a normally aspirated 2ZZ 1.8l MR2 Spyder will do against a full Le Mans spec LMP2 race car with a 2l turbo engine in it? See this video for a surprise! It was taken on Zwartkops Raceway during the Jaki Scheckter exotic car track day in March 2011.

I'd say the driver is holding you up, not the car....look at 1:42!

The driver can barely take it out of the corner!

A well setup and well driven LMP2 car are not far from LMP1's in term of cornering speed!

With the LMP2 car snaking under power out of the corner and not getting away from me, it appears as if it has huge setup issues.

Maybe I should contact them and ask for a ride in the car - I would love it!

Yeh I realised they were just testing the car. It's a racecar after all, the tweaking is endless...

And yes the MR2 has lots of potential. That's why I bought one too :) The only downside which is pretty big though (in my opinion) is that it is bottlenecked by MacPherson Struts. If they came in double wishbones, I think the MR2 could be a lot more awesome than it is already.

On the topic, have you seen the MR2 Spyder with a 2GRFE, with a SUPERCHARGER? :DDD

How this is unbelievable!! I am very surprised! Why is the Le Mans car so slow lol

As an MR2 owner however I am very pleased with the video.

But that last comment on the video was cheeky and obviously sarcastic haha!

In fairness, they were at an early stage of development and the potential of the car, as well as the workmanship is fantastic.

My comment was a bit tongue in cheek yes. But I must add that the MR2 is awesome and does beat up some bigger cars.

a properly sorted lmp2 car with a decent driver would lap you multiple times, somethings wrong here
