I agree, the chord opening has been lifted from Mellissa'...which predated this cut by 4 years...more base and fuller sound from Labi....saw him do a little acoustic set some years ago....good performer live.

I like Labi Siffre, but the chord progression was totally ripped off from the Allman Brothers "Melissa".

I adore this song, I use to do this in my set. I still fined myself singing it some times.
i haven't seen Labi for about 20 years now .Last time I seen him was In a Market in Cardiff, I believe he still lives in Wales.
