This is a relatively fun (slightly above average) and very quirky game that is often forgotten amongst the ranks of other SNES games. Playing as Jo (Josephine) and being guided by Osaki (Bob), you'll have to make it to school on time while fighting robots, evil spirits and more! The whole shady business of Osaki and his numerous car references (Hiundai/Hyundai, Farratti/Ferrari, Moto/Motocross, Mitsubushi/Mitsubishi, etc.) adds to the humor.

The game is known as Makeruna Makendo in Japan and came with omake material. Jo fights with what looks like a typical Japanese Bamboo sword, Shinai, which is typically used with Japanese sword-fighting reminiscent to fencing (Kendo), until she transforms. At that point, it is wrapped in gold and made more powerful. She can collect orbs that give her different special attacks that are really tailored for fighting certain bosses. Enjoy.

  • I bought this game once after watching this video, and it's basically a crappy, retarded ripoff of Super Valis IV.

The controls are too loose (very easy to lose control of your character), the enemies take off a good 1/4 of your life bar and send your character flying, the charge attack drains your life (never good), your sword takes far too long to charge, and the bosses are incredibly hard and cheap.

It's quirky sense of humor isn't enough to save it, either.

  • @Teraforce88 You just gotta know how to play. I can promise you that this game isn't even a fraction as hard as Super Ghouls n' Ghosts (or to some, Jim Power). The bosses have simple patterns and with the right weapon, said patterns are easier to exploit. The final boss can be difficult, but most of the bosses are fairly manageable. Like most old-school games, you can't win the first time around.

I don't think it's anything like Valis, with the exception of platforming and a female protagonist.

  • You know, I was wondering, how long have you been in the business of covering and reminding gamers of old school classics and forgotten or unrecognized gaming treasures? I'm getting to see more and more cool games I've never seen or heard of in my youth since I subscribed to your channel. Thanks for all your efforts dood.

  • @purpleblizzard Well, I don't know if I'd call what I do business, but I've been interested in covering games since I was about fifteen, though I didn't set up my own website till 2007; I had used GameFAQs for a long time (since 2002), but they simply don't allow you to house the same kind of information and the like, so it's nothing on their part. Thanks for always watching :)

  • "I'm Osaki Yoritomo, but you can call me Bob!" XD

  • This looks pretty good for a SNES game. I never even heard of this game at all. At one point, I just thought it would've been a Japan-only title for a SNES game.

Though, I love old school SNES, NES, and Genesis games that has an anime-feel.

  • @Vysethedetermined2 no problem dood. I as a gamer owe it to myself to discover new games that are either out of the mainstream eyes and also play games that few others would even bother doing because they're too busy with the more popular games. That's why I tune in to your channel, to discover the forgotten or obscure gems. Well, repeating myself won't help, I just do it sometimes. It's awesome that you enjoy doing the same thing that I do.

  • I like games that start with a good Into ... Excellent video
