Four years ago Barack Obama promised to make college more affordable. As president he doubled funding for Pell Grants, reduced student loan payments for millions of borrowers, and capped federal loan repayments at 10% of income.

I have believed that Mr Obama wants to help all of the people who truly make life in the USA possible. That's US, the working class and low income who push our children in a positive direction and do what we must legally to make sure they get the best educational foundation. Health insurance is a big step along with insuring everyone that wants an education get one. He definitely has my vote.

how do i find out how to start paying my student loan back when i only make $700 a month and can barely survive as it is.? but yet they take all my earned income credit for my son and any taxes i am suppose to get back. well my son said thanks.

My gf's loans were able to be consolidated from $250 a month down to $90 a month. This has helped both of us to lives better lives immensely because we don't have to struggle to make that payment every month.

Wait I am confused because my tuition for last semester was way higher than it has ever been. And on top of that I received a letter from the financial aid office of my school saying that graduate students are no longer able to take out stafford loans. And there is a $5500 cap on pell grants. Which is ridiculous considering the average student graduates with like $25000 worth of student loan debt and the govt is only willing to give 5500 in pell grants to students who are in need.

I agree college is hard working long hours taking 20 hours course load. I just hope it's worth it.

Obama still needs to do more - like loan forgiveness. Education is getting crazy expensive forcing students to take out huge loans at 8%+ interest rates. That's crazy! Nobody gets 8% returns on anything in today's horrible economy. Why should these banks get 8% on our money when I can't get even a 10 yr CD over 4% return? And student loans cannot be dismissed by bankruptcy! Madness!
