I think this is the best 64k intro i'v ever seen :)
Great stuff and you all should have seen the interview with Smash and Reed who made this intro. They where totaly drunk and they bashed all the other entries to the competition ;) Seriously mad greetings to Fairlight for this masterpiece.

I. Love.
And mrempa, I think none would disagree. For somewhat sensical reasons;
The 64k scene was abandoned some years ago by many of the greater groups, in favour of the 'demo' scene. Of course, there were still/are still some great groups left in 64k, like Traction.
The 64k scene was somewhat taken over by the 4k scene (as today's 4ks match the 64ks from 3-4 years ago), and people with the skills/creativity to surpass the "limitations" of 4k would go either oldskool, or 'real' demo.
IMHO.

@zanzer7 its just shame that this prod easily beats many unlimited demos, even if you didnt know this one was just 64k. imho this might be the most impressive prod I've ever seen..

Fairlight always makes some truly awesome stuff that blows my mind. :-)

awesome! this is one of the best, no, THE best 64k intro ive ever seen. just imagine times when we thought fr08 would be the ne plus ultra.
its awesome how many effects, shaders and models with hires textures can be "packed" in 64k. always overwhelming again. i really respect people who make such great stuff

@JuddMan03 a lot of textures taken from DirectX DLLs.

Because the best compression algorithm is the human mind. :)
Awesome, really!

@JuddMan03 "i even disconnected from the net before i ran it the first time, in case it was downloading" haha. No i think it gets to be that small because it procedurally generates a lot of things like the textures, places them in RAM and then runs. the chair/fish/tv/sub also look like lowpoly models that got smoothed at runtime, and other object are likely made mathematically instead of actual models.
sound like this can be really small, like MIDI, or SID for the commodore

This demo is amazing. I've run the original myself and STILL can't believe it. HOW DID IT FIT INTO 64k????
to be sure, i even disconnected from the net before i ran it the first time, in case it was downloading its content. it's not. amazing.
