@KEvronius And, while it may be a little late, the "tick tock" is alot higher on the model, meaning more energy put into the pendulum to keep it going. I'm guessing that the bottom weight is no more than a few grams heavier than the top weight.
@KEvronius I think that lower weight is a little bigger so pendulum doesn't spin around. Other weights on pendulum are just here to give pendumul some momentum so that it's slower. Otherwise, escapement does work the same as on other 'normal' clocks.

could you explain the science behind a compound pendulum? i haven't been able to find a good explanation of it.

This clock looks great, is the centre wheel, 3rd wheel and the intermediate wheel the same size? what is the bpm on this like?
