This song was the final piece of the second of three acts in the Opera titled "Love Poems for Dying Children". In this piece, Autumn, a vampyric goddess, confronts her former lover Archaeon, who is now determined to wipe her from the earth. Up until this point she was torn between her many wild, varying emotions which have manifested within her as different personas. This persona, known as Deceit, finally overcame and forever set her against Archaeon.
