@jackhammer111 He is arguing that a hierarchical coercive statist monopoly on force from a central authority is immoral, and so you want him to become one or you will levy ad hominem attacks against him. He is not within his rights to force his solution upon you. That's the point. And what you are doing is called begging the question. Let me respond with a question of my own: Who do you call when someone points a loaded gun at your head and robs you when that someone is called the Government?

1:57 - They should not have been included in the video.
Unless he is mentally handicapped he really should have presented himself better.

@jackhammer111 I mean an answer like a specific way a things going to be done, like the Fire Dept will be set up like x and will get y dollars in funding. Those are the answers that central planners have. The market is very decentralized and has many different answers, and only those answers that benefit the most people the best are the ones that are accepted.
So are you not smarter than me?
-
@jackhammer111 It's not hard to find someone smarter than the politicians who point guns at others. Hell, they have a violent monopoly. That doesn't require brains, just corruption... Not sure what you are trying to get at with the rest of this.... you honestly believe that you have to use violence on peaceful people to have prosperity?!? Doesn't sound very smart to me... why do you look to everyone else to tell you what to do?!?

Respond to this video... So, the allure of central planning is that you don't have to bother think up, researching and source a plans to back your idea. How nice. How convenient. That's the answer to any question people have about how you would do things, and the "the market is a complex thing" one. So easy a cave man could do it. No critical thinking skills needed. You are not smarter than the people you criticize. I want someone smarter than the guy now doing it to try and change it.

@VatZeEll "that would be like asking someone 30 years ago to describe what they think an iPhone would be." No, it would not be like that. It was a really dumb thing to say. What is OBVIOUS is that pro fire departments replaced volunteer forces because they were OBVIOUSLY better. no insult to volunteer firemen. I know some want be firemen so bad they'd do it for nothing....while they get the experience and pay for training so they can get a paying job at a professional fire house.
-
@jackhammer111 Thats the thing, most of us don't know how Private fire departments would work nor can we, that would be like asking someone 30 years ago to describe what they think an iPhone would be. The Market is a complex thing that has many influences, unfortunately us "Voluntarists" can't tell people what will happen. We can't give them a plan, we can guess but that's it. I think that's the allure of central planning to people, there is always someone with an answer.

@samheingreystar2 Responsibility is the backbone of self-ownership/Freedom.
Too non specific Mike. You go on about systems you think are wrong but are short on answers of specificaly what you'd replace them with. It's cheap and easy to be against stuff, much much harder to say what you are for. Be specific, tell us what are you for. Taxation is theft? For instance, can volunteer departments can protect big cities? If you think so show us how it's funded. Be specific. Same thing with roads, bridges, education. Who do you call if attacted? Your ideas are superficial.
