In my opinion, I think Steve is the best.
He is my Hero!!!! But Petrucci is also a great guitarist.
So 1 vote for Steve from me.

Petrucci has a style that is more ...caged. He has a precise language.

I like to think that he uses notes as words.

Vai uses notes as colours.

A writer and a painter (what a metaphor, lol). How can you compare them?

I prefer Vai's instrumental stuff, but Petrucci for band stuff. The thing is, Petrucci could play anything of Vai's, but he couldn't put the same emotion into it. Both absolute monsters.

@Dionese17 vai goes for weeks fasting to create new ideas. Both of them are sick. Petrucci is faster, Vai experiments alot more w/ different ideas

petrucci is the best in the world, as mike is the best drummer and ruddes´s keyboard is the best, i think DT have the best progressive musicians in the world... they can blow your mind constantly for 24 minutes...
