  • People BACK THEN didnt think they had alot of go they were CONSIDERED as outdated thats why they were worthless! I would never say that about a E-type because my father owns one and it can scare the living shit out of me...There fast and i never said they wernt...I do know what im talking about here...And yeah i love the torque you get from the XK engine leave the thing sitting on 70mph go to pass a car just leave it in 4th and push the pedal a tad harder

  • @Klottelitsch No, they aren't.

quite agree, but I'm biased - you might like the one I've been taking care of the last 20+ years - search Google 3488 WK (XKE Data) or on youtube checkout 5 vids search

  • @2205100005 xke, e type, no matter what you call it, its gone down in history as the most desirable car to own. ever, surpassed maybe by a c type or a d type or a lightweight.

  • @spoddog1 where did you hear that then? E-Type was original name used in most countries, but marketed as XKE in USA

  • you can hear it hasn't run for years because the oil pressure is not filling the valve pushers yet and the timing chain rattles like dry bones... Started on the button though, on five cylinders but what a barn find indeed... I trust it is in good hands judging by the 911 in the background. We do british classics as well here in Belgium. Have you made a video of it recently to show us what work has been done on it since? It would be swell!

  • It still has bias ply tires on it ;)

  • Can you tell us where you found it? City and state? Thanks.

  • I had a 3.8L convertible in the early '70s. I bought it for $1800 but was forced to sell it when I needed a reliable car after I got out of school. I only got $600 for it and the guy who bought it from me rebuilt the engine and eventually sold it for $3000 (the body was perfect). A few years later I saw it in a parking lot and left a note on it asking the owner to call me. He did, and was looking to sell it for $7500. I couldn't afford it! Today that car is worth over $60,000!

  • @DaBoogie049 XKE was the factory given name, The E type moniker was given a bit later.

  • A friend of mine has just restored a 1964 coupe. It wasn't cheap to restore, but he only payed $1300. for it back in the 1970's.

  • E TYPE MATE
