Following on from the success of "Podge & Rodge" last year we bought 4 turkeys in August. We let them & the chickens out to enjoy the Autumn sunshine in the garden today & 2 of the turkeys flew & ended up onto the Pergola.

Turkeys fly quite a lot given half a chance, on top of their shed most days & sometimes into the neighbouring field.

The plan is to keep 2 back for breeding next year & have 2 slaughtered before Christmas. They are about 4 months old now &they've had a great life; running around their pen, eating grass & insects. Basically doing everything turkeys should do.

Better than being crammed into a huge barn with 1000s of other turkeys & never seeing the light of day which is how your average Christmas turkey is reared in Ireland.

  • she's actually scared of them, one of the turkeys last year pecked her nose, she's never forgotten!

  • you're black dog had a look of longing in her eyes, yet at the same time she seemed to be saying ' look how good i am'

  • Yes Mr Myjugs in his bestest hat lol.

We'll play eeny, meeny, miny, moe to choose which 2 stay and which 2 go. There is only 1 male turkey I think so we must make sure we don't take him by mistake, have to spray him with sheep marker next time he displays.

  • Nice video, myjugs. But how will you decide how to pick 2 turkeys for a great career in breeding, and condemn the other 2 to a place on your Christmas table?! Glad I'm not judging!

By the way, is that Mr. Myjugs at 1.11
