MPS must accelerate professional development related to differentiated instruction, Superintendent William Andrekopoulos said. The implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports and Early Intervening Services over the next few years will "begin to eliminate excuses" about why children may not learn.
"We need to explore extended day and extended year opportunity models," he said. Andrekopoulos said the district also needs to expand pre-school opportunities, find a way to staff all buildings with full-time nurses and "eliminate the glaring oral health disparities that affect our children."
