@nick7305 I don't think that's necessarily true. There are plenty of good FPSes out there, and the platformer has recently made a comeback (NSMBWii, Rayman Origins...). I think that game companies are now realizing that software has started to hit diminishing returns, and so rather than try to push the systems to their technical limits, they're focusing on making good games with what they had, like they used to.
